WHO: KAZI

Called "New York's latest heart-throb" by Elevator Mag, Kazi is a singer, rapper, producer and NYC native.

Kazi independently released his debut EP Growing Pains on 12/13. (Find it on all streaming platforms.) Written and recorded in his bedroom studio, the 4-track project is an introspective summary of his turbulent teen years.

Now 20 years old, Kazi reflects on sacrifices made including family and romantic pressures, moving out at 17, coming of age and the loss of friends and loved ones. Growing Pains gives listeners an inside look at Kazi’s backstory, as well as what the future holds.

These photos were taken in front of Kazi's childhood home and throughout the Lower East Side neighborhood where he grew up. Some local staples remain, but his childhood playground has recently been demolished. In the photo above, he sits amongst its rubble.
